The Chicago Summer of Learning is now the Chicago City of Learning!
What was a citywide effort to connect learning citywide is now a year-round initiative to engage Chicago youth in learning opportunities 24/7/365!
Parents, check out the new website and see how to your children and teens can engage in city-wide learning over the upcoming winter break!
See what led up to this partnership with CCOL:
This summer, Digital Youth Network collaborated with the City of Chicago Mayor's Office, the Mozilla Foundation, the Hive Learning Network, and many of Chicago's cultural and education museums, institutions, and organizations for the Chicago Summer of Learning (CSOL) initiative, now the Chicago City of Learning (CCOL). Digital Youth Network's involvement in CSOL included professional development for badges and badge creation, a CSOL iRemix Learning platform that introduced badge pathways and higher level challenges for youth to take on, STEAM Studio and Brave New Voices, role-based, intern-style pathways where youth worked with professional clients in fashion and documentary, and Digital Divas, a coding and interactive media design program for middle school girls.

We are happy to be highlighted in the Wallace Foundation's recent report on how technology fuels new opportunities for interest driven arts learning.
The report calls out our work with social learning networks and YOUmedia as models that:"...emphasize youth leadership, creativity, and open exploration of materials within a social environment"

DYN is proud to partner with the City of Chicago, the MacArthur Foundation, the Mozilla Foundation and Game Changer Chicago for a one of a kind citywide effort leveraging digital badges for learning.
As the mayor pushes for more learning opportunities for youth during the summer by partnering with close to 100 youth serving organizations, DYN is supporting this effort through online learning content, digital mentors, providing a state of the art media center downtown with DePaul University and a citywide social learning network for participating youth.
It is an amazing initiative that will serve as a powerful model for other cities moving forward. We are extremely excited to be able to participate!
