DYN has teamed with the Chicago Public Library for an innovative new initiative, tentatively called 'YouMedia'.

Students from around the city will converge on the Harold Washington Library to produce innovative new media products connected to themes from shared novels.

DYN is extremely excited about to possibilities of connected our new media literacies to traditional literacy with this project. We're also inspired to see the Chicago Public Library take such a powerful step to embrace new media and technology in their already impressive system!

Spoken Word student Arnecia reflects on her favorite types of poems to write and shares how poetry has become a helpful outlet for her over the years.

This reflection gives a good example of how DYN's program design is about more than just the technical skills. We want to support our students' personal growth and perspective development just as intensely.

In her 3rd year with DYN, Arnecia's reflections here reinforce the importance of this balanced approach with our students.

Dec 12th DYN will host its first youth poetry slam. Students are welcome to compete for cash and prizes at our Dec 12th Freedom Friday special edition!

Perform your best poems, acapella raps or songs that connect to our theme: "Life, Leadership, Change"

While the competition is only for students, teachers and parents are encouraged to attend and perform as well!

Dec 5th, we'll be viewing clips from the film Slam Nation to get students ready for this new experience!
